Artist Hiromasa Tobimatsu - Space and Vessels Woven by Tobimatsu Toki
Born in Saga Prefecture in 1980, currently residing in Tokyo. Presents works mainly focused on slip-casting porcelain under the brand "Tobimatsu Toki". Graduated from the Tama Art University, Department of Crafts, Ceramics Program. Utilizing his experience in three-dimensional modeling with molds during his studies, he began creating "vessels" using the slip-casting technique. After serving as an assistant to potters Takehiko Higuchi and Maiko Ogawa, he became independent.
Hiromasa Tobimatsu's works are characterized by their ability to create a warm atmosphere through the interplay of light and shadow. Designs that leverage the translucency of porcelain evoke a "retro modern" feel that is both nostalgic and fresh. His diverse works, including lampshades, "vessels," and vases, embody a delicate beauty within their simplicity, gently illuminating everyday living spaces. They are also used for lighting in nokaze stores, radiating a presence that enriches the entire space.

Simple and Modern Vessels by Tobimatsu Toki, Maximizing the Translucency of Porcelain
A characteristic feature of Hiromasa Tobimatsu's works is his technique for maximizing the translucency of porcelain. In his slip-casting method, liquid porcelain clay is poured into plaster molds, resulting in uniform, smooth shapes and beautiful translucency. To achieve a delicate texture that allows more light to pass through than typical porcelain, he uses specially adjusted porcelain clay.
His lampshades, in particular, are captivating for their design, where the soft light emitted in the darkness gently envelops the entire space, creating a modern yet somewhat nostalgic impression. Furthermore, his plates and bowls combine durability suitable for daily use with simple beauty, and his vases are designed to bring natural harmony to plants and spaces.

A Comfortable Time Woven by Light and Shadow
Hiromasa Tobimatsu's works reveal a strong dedication to the expression of light. He states, "Light is not just physical brightness; it brings peace of mind to people." True to his words, his works create warmth and rhythm in a space through illumination.
In his lampshades, the angle of light leakage and its softness are meticulously calculated, making them artistic items that transcend mere lighting fixtures. The subtle irregularities and delicate hues on the porcelain surface create a contrast of light and shadow, expressing a beauty as if capturing a natural landscape.
Amidst this, he creates various "vessels" using unique techniques. Their simple designs embody delicacy, enriching everyday life. Moreover, these "vessels" are light and incredibly easy to use, possessing an irresistible charm that makes them indispensable once used.
Hiromasa Tobimatsu's works illuminate daily life and create new value. Experience their charm at the nokaze store and consider incorporating them into your own space.
