Although he took a job, he soon returned to the world of pottery. In 2017, he completed his studies at the Tokoname Pottery Forest Ceramics Research Institute. At the same time, he became independent as an artist specializing in teapots and other tea ceremony utensils, separate from his family business.

Yutaro Yamada's Teapots Utilizing the Characteristics of Tokoname Ware

Yutaro Yamada's teapots are characterized by sophisticated designs that embrace the traditions of Tokoname ware while incorporating a modern sensibility. The moment you pick one up, you'll be surprised by its lightness and precision. The light, thinly crafted teapots offer an astonishingly comfortable fit, and the feel in your hand is like an extension of your own.

Yutaro Yamada's teapots embody a perfect harmony of practicality and beauty. The shape of the spout, the placement of the handle, and the pleasant sensation felt with each use give his work a special charm. These are pieces that are beautiful to behold, but their true allure is further enhanced when held in the hand.

Tokoname ware is known for its red clay and highly translucent glazes. Yutaro Yamada utilizes this Tokoname red clay, valuing the warmth that emanates from the earth. Using this clay, his teapots evoke a comforting warmth that allows one to truly relax when held. The rustic texture of the clay itself and the soft quality that emerges after firing envelop the user.

Furthermore, Yutaro Yamada has developed his own glazes, maximizing the characteristics of Tokoname ware glazes while incorporating new sensibilities. As a result, his teapots emit an alluring luster that captivates observers, possessing a beautiful texture as if time has stopped. The glossy brilliance of the glaze makes its beauty felt with every use.

Tokoname Ware Works with Lightness, Precision, and Beauty

Yutaro Yamada's works are finished to be as light and thin as possible. While their lightness provides ease of use, the meticulously crafted design also offers visual enjoyment. Beautiful from every angle, each piece is like a work of art, and its beauty captivates you every time you pick it up. Furthermore, in addition to ease of pouring and holding, the internal design is cleverly devised to allow tea leaves to expand naturally, providing a comfortable experience for the user. All these elements harmonize within a single piece, demonstrating their true value in daily use.
