Artist Hiromune Tobimatsu - Warm spaces and vessels woven by Tobimatsu Toki

Born in Saga Prefecture in 1980, currently residing in Tokyo. Presents works mainly focusing on porcelain casting under the name "Tobimatsu Toki". Graduated from Tama Art University, Department of Crafts, Ceramics Program. Utilizing his experience in three-dimensional molding using molds during his studies, he began creating "vessels" using the casting technique. After working as an assistant to potters Takehiko Higuchi and Maiko Ogawa, he became independent.

The greatest feature of Hiromune Tobimatsu's works is their ability to create a warm space through the interplay of light and shadow. Designs that leverage the translucency of porcelain have a "retro modern" atmosphere that is both nostalgic and fresh. His diverse works, including lampshades, "vessels," and flower vases, embody a delicate beauty within their simplicity, gently illuminating everyday living spaces. They are also used as lighting fixtures in the nokaze store, radiating a presence that colors the entire space.

Simple and modern vessels that maximize the translucency of Tobimatsu Toki's porcelain

Hiromune Tobimatsu's works are characterized by techniques that maximize the translucency of porcelain. In the casting method used by Hiromune Tobimatsu, liquid porcelain clay is poured into plaster molds to achieve uniform and smooth shapes and beautiful translucency. To achieve a delicate texture that allows more light to pass through than ordinary porcelain, he uses specially adjusted porcelain clay.

Lampshades, in particular, are captivating for their design, which gently envelops the entire space with soft light glowing in the dark, creating a modern yet somewhat nostalgic impression. Furthermore, plates and bowls combine durability suitable for everyday use with simple beauty, and flower vases are designed to bring natural harmony to plants and spaces.

A comfortable time woven by light and shadow

Hiromune Tobimatsu's works clearly demonstrate his strong commitment to the expression of light. Hiromune Tobimatsu says, "Light is not just physical brightness, but something that brings peace to people's hearts." As his words suggest, his works create warmth and rhythm in space through illumination.

His lampshades are meticulously designed, from the angle at which light leaks to its softness, making them artistic items that transcend mere lighting fixtures. Furthermore, the subtle unevenness and delicate color variations on the porcelain surface create a contrast of light and shadow, expressing a beauty as if capturing a landscape woven by nature.

Among these, many "vessels" are created using unique techniques. Their simple designs exude a delicate charm, enriching daily life. And these "vessels" are light and incredibly easy to use. Once you use them, you'll find them indispensable.

Hiromune Tobimatsu's works illuminate daily life and create new value. Experience their charm at the nokaze store and bring them into your own space.
