Artist Hirotaka Tobimatsu - Tobimatsu Toki weaves a warm space with his vessels
Born in Saga Prefecture in 1980, currently residing in Tokyo. He exhibits works mainly focused on cast porcelain under the brand name "Tobimatsu Toki." He graduated from the ceramic program of the Department of Crafts at Tama Art University. Utilizing his experience in three-dimensional modeling with molds during his studies, he began creating "vessels" using the slip casting technique. He became independent after serving as an assistant to ceramists Takehiko Higuchi and Machiko Ogawa.
Hirotaka Tobimatsu's works are characterized by their ability to create a warm atmosphere through the interplay of light and shadow. Designs that leverage the translucency of porcelain have a "retro modern" feel that is both nostalgic and fresh. His diverse works, such as lampshades, "vessels," and vases, contain delicate beauty within their simplicity, gently illuminating everyday living spaces. They are also used in the lighting fixtures at the nokaze store, adding presence to the entire space.

Simple yet modern vessels by Tobimatsu Toki that maximize the translucency of porcelain
Hirotaka Tobimatsu's works are characterized by techniques that maximize the translucency of porcelain. In the slip casting method used by Hirotaka Tobimatsu, liquid porcelain clay is poured into a plaster mold to achieve a uniform, smooth shape and beautiful translucency. A specially adjusted porcelain clay is used to achieve a delicate texture that allows more light to pass through than ordinary porcelain.
Lampshades, in particular, are captivating with their design that gently envelops the entire space with soft light emanating in the dark, giving them a modern yet somewhat nostalgic impression. Furthermore, plates and bowls combine the durability suitable for everyday use with simple beauty, while vases are designed to bring natural harmony to plants and spaces.

A comfortable time woven by light and shadow
Hirotaka Tobimatsu's works reveal a strong commitment to the expression of light. He states, "Light is not just physical brightness; it brings peace to people's hearts." True to his words, his works create warmth and rhythm in a space through illumination.
His lampshades are more than mere lighting fixtures; they are artistic items where even the angle of light leakage and its softness are meticulously calculated. Furthermore, the subtle unevenness and delicate shades on the porcelain surface create a contrast between light and shadow, expressing a beauty as if capturing a scene woven by nature.
Among these are numerous "vessels" created using unique techniques. They are simple in design yet delicate, enriching everyday life. And the "vessels" are light and incredibly easy to use. Once you use them, they become indispensable.
Hirotaka Tobimatsu's works illuminate daily life and create new value. Experience their charm at the nokaze store and incorporate them into your own space.
